In July 2021, Alex McKell led the Betzdorf Mural Workshop at the Institut St Joseph in Betzdorf, Luxembourg. Sponsored by SES, this project was a unique fusion of art and community engagement, designed to inspire creativity and collaborative spirit among residents. Participants were first introduced to stencil painting techniques in a classroom session, exploring the contrasts between rough and smooth surfaces.

The practical phase invited groups to apply their skills to a long wall enclosing the residential building. The workshop featured community contributions, with participants leaving handprints to personalize the mural. The central portion of the wall was reserved for an SES-themed storyline, illustrating satellite launches and their global impact. This inclusive project not only beautified the space but also fostered a sense of ownership and pride among the participants.
